Where to Place Parts In Your Hair, Depending On Your Face Shape

I have heard a few people say how they can’t embrace their natural or curly hair because they Don’t Have The Right Face Shape For It.

To be honest, I do not believe that curly hair or natural hair is only for certain face shapes.  I think you can work with your hairstyle to suit your face shape, regardless of whether or not you have curly or natural hair.

Some people say that round shaped faces look better with side parts to de-emphasise the roundness of their face and oblong shaped faces look better with middle  parts to de-emphasise the face length.

What face shape do you have and where do you place your parting, if you wear any?

For example, I have a rather oblong-ish face shape and as you can see below, when I wear my loose natural hair with a front middle part (Picture A), it seems to shorten the length of my face.  However, when I wear my hair with a side part (Picture B), it emphasises my oblong face.

I am not sure which one I prefer as I do like both.  Which one do you feel suits me better?

In fact, some people might argue that curly hair doesn’t suit oblong-shaped faces like mine….and that longish, wavy to straight type hair would be more ideal.  The only way I would get wavy or straight type hair is if I were to relax or perm my hair, which is certainly not going to happen any time soon.

But I can understand their argument.  Angelina Jolie has an oblong-shaped face and she always wears her hair loose and long, with a side part, which adds an allure to her image.

Perhaps  when my hair gets longer, I might be able wear it more with a side part a la Angelina.  Until then, I think I’ll have fun playing around with side or front partings in my hair.  Or perhaps have a slightly off-set parting, which is a happy medium between a side & front part :)
